FIVE PICTURE FRIDAY!!

Twin Lakes Colorado

Taken July 27, 2024

In the high country of Central Colorado, two alpine lakes reflect the state’s tallest peaks. Once home to nomadic bands of Ute tribes, the area became a crossroads of mining towns, linking Aspen to Leadville via the winding Independence Pass, crossing 12,000 feet in elevation. Now dominated by tourism and recreation, you can wander the historic village, fish, hike, and stargaze while in the spell of the mountains.

About “Five Picture Friday”

Every other Friday, I produce a short photo-essay on an interesting location. I try to capture the essence of the place, distilled down into a few images. It’s a fun way to practice my photography, and I hope you enjoy a little armchair travel!
