A Star Wars landscape, alien and forbidding but dramatic and beautiful. Populated by the bones and ghosts of historic creatures - proto-horses, carnivorous pig beasts, and saber-toothed cats. Caked in mud yet devoid of moisture, the Badlands punctuate the prairie with drama, and offer a rare snapshot of deep time, the eons stacked one on top of another.

About “Five Picture Friday”

Every other Friday, I produce a short photo-essay on an interesting location. I try to capture the essence of the place, distilled down into a few images. It’s a fun way to practice my photography, and I hope you enjoy a little armchair travel!
