FIVE PICTURE FRIDAY!! - Balboa

At the center of Orange County, the Balboa peninsula creates a harbor for the affluent and playground for lawyers, surfers, and gossip girls. Packed with $5 million homes, yachts, cantinas, and toe-ring shops, it struggles to retain its classic Southern California heritage. The beach, sidewalks, and gated driveways provoke scenes of contradiction - a highly polished, cultivated, and guarded neighborhood on one side, a school of dolphins charging through the wild Pacific on the other.

About “Five Picture Friday”

Every other Friday, I produce a short photo-essay on an interesting location. I try to capture the essence of the place, distilled down into a few images. It’s a fun way to practice my photography, and I hope you enjoy a little armchair travel!
