FIVE PICTURE FRIDAY! - Chinatown

Traversing one of San Francisco's most famous neighborhoods.

Taken November 4, 2025

Stockton Street in San Francisco offers a cross section of that great city. Rising uphill from the commercial district and Union Square, it cuts across the city and makes its way down to the waterfront. In the middle, it runs through the dynamic and unmistakeable Chinatown. There - markets, cultural institutions, restaurants, and residential flats all burst with activity and form a unique and diverse slice of urban America.

About “Five Picture Friday”

Every other Friday, I produce a short photo-essay on an interesting location. I try to capture the essence of the place, distilled down into a few images. It’s a fun way to practice my photography, and I hope you enjoy a little armchair travel!

Want a print?

For those desperate for some wall decor or simply infatuated with one of my photos, prints are now available for a nominal fee - basically ‘at cost’. Send me an email with your request, and I’ll make it happen.
