FIVE PICTURE FRIDAY! - Joshua Tree
Prickly patterns and rock gardens in Southern California.
Taken January 16, 2026
Joshua Tree National Park is the iconic desert wilderness of California, playground and weekend getaway for the residents of San Diego, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs. Rock formations and dry scrub provide backdrop for the alien plant life - the namesake Joshua Trees and innumerable species of cactus. Hikers, photographers, mystics, and the occasional rock band all go there, seeking an otherworldly experience that can be found nowhere else.
About “Five Picture Friday”
Every other Friday, I produce a short photo-essay on an interesting location. I try to capture the essence of the place, distilled down into a few images. It’s a fun way to practice my photography, and I hope you enjoy a little armchair travel!
Want a print?
For those desperate for some wall decor or simply infatuated with one of my photos, prints are now available for a nominal fee - basically ‘at cost’. Send me an email with your request, and I’ll make it happen.
