FIVE PICTURE FRIDAY! - Lake Agnes

Just another alpine lake in the Rocky Mountains.

Taken September 19, 2025

Outside the northern boundaries of Rocky Mountain National Park, Lake Agnes sits in a pocket of rock and snow. Surprisingly accessible for such an alpine scene, the Lake invites hikers to explore a primordial world of forests, scree, and cold waters. Life struggles to find a grip here in the brief summer, carving out a niche existence before the sun dips below the mountains and the cold returns.

About “Five Picture Friday”

Every other Friday, I produce a short photo-essay on an interesting location. I try to capture the essence of the place, distilled down into a few images. It’s a fun way to practice my photography, and I hope you enjoy a little armchair travel!

Want a print?

For those desperate for some wall decor or simply infatuated with one of my photos, prints are now available for a nominal fee - basically ‘at cost’. Send me an email with your request, and I’ll make it happen.
