FIVE PICTURE FRIDAY! - Twin Palms
Mid-century architectural splendor in Palm Springs.
Taken January 15, 2026
Palm Springs is one of those rare American cities that conveys its own, undeniable identity. Set against the desert mountain landscape, the city hangs on to its 1950’s and 60’s vibe when Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, and Bing Crosby strutted around town. In parallel, Palm Springs bit deep into the architectural trend that we now call mid-century modern, and the area maintains some of the most iconic structures of that genre remaining today. A sampling can be found in the neighborhood of Twin Palms - named because each home came with two complimentary palm trees. There, street after street of architectural history awaits, flaunting a style and moment in time that is both desirable and foreign to us today.

About “Five Picture Friday”
Every other Friday, I produce a short photo-essay on an interesting location. I try to capture the essence of the place, distilled down into a few images. It’s a fun way to practice my photography, and I hope you enjoy a little armchair travel!
Want a print?
For those desperate for some wall decor or simply infatuated with one of my photos, prints are now available for a nominal fee - basically ‘at cost’. Send me an email with your request, and I’ll make it happen.
