FIVE PICTURE FRIDAY! - Urban Edge
Exploring the transition zones of downtown Fort Collins.
Taken November 27, 2025
Every city has those areas, where new development and active spaces push into more rugged parts. Call it gentrification, growth, or the natural churn of urban living. In Fort Collins, our Old Town area is well known for its charm - full of restaurants, galleries, bars, niche retail, and historic buildings. With the success of Old Town, the economic incentives to expand into neighboring districts is hard to resist. Here warehouses, auto shops, storage yards, and workshops try and fend off the seemingly inevitable.
About “Five Picture Friday”
Every other Friday, I produce a short photo-essay on an interesting location. I try to capture the essence of the place, distilled down into a few images. It’s a fun way to practice my photography, and I hope you enjoy a little armchair travel!
Want a print?
For those desperate for some wall decor or simply infatuated with one of my photos, prints are now available for a nominal fee - basically ‘at cost’. Send me an email with your request, and I’ll make it happen.
